Two Little Wanderers: May 2012

My home stay Momma is the Director of public relations for Guatemalan culture here in Antigua. She told me we were going to see a ballet...good thing I always pack a simple black dress. This was Guatemala's national ballet troupe! A huge old building with soaring ceilings, something straight out of phantom of the opera. Women in pearls, sitting in plastic chairs. Bmws parked out front. Wisdom slept through the whole thing, kind of glad, otherwise I might have gotten a few looks! It was incredible, I am constantly surprised and amazed when I travel. The show was sold out and it was riveting. I haven't been to a ballet since The Nutcracker as a child. One of my favorite parts of home-stays is the secret gems the families share with you. Wish my second little wanderer would have been here, she would have loved it!
